MediaTek unveils chipsets Helio P20, P25 and X30

New chipsets have been officially unveiled by MediaTek - the Helio P20, P25 and a new high-end SoC Helio X30. MediaTek had been the favorite of most companies because of its powerful yet affordable chips like the Helio P10.

The P20 is an octa-core chip built on the 16nm process. It supports LPDDR4x RAM, which means it can house 6GB of RAM.

Although the details for Helio P20 and P25 are still few, the two chipsets will be similar in some aspects and configurations. The P25 will still be an eight-core and can support Dual camera setup, which is popular nowadays in some smartphones.

MediaTek also unveiled its Helio X30, a high-end flagship chipset. The chip will take advantage of TSMC's 10nm process with a total of ten cores. The X30 will deploy the same tri-cluster architecture of the X20 and will include two 2.8 GHz Cortex-A73 cores, four 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 cores, and another four 2.0 GHz Cortex-A35 cores. The X30 is accompanied by PowerVR 7XTP-MT4 (850 MHz) graphics. Unlike the P20  and P25, the Helio X30 can support 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM, 4k video @ 30fps and Cat 10 LTE.

MediaTek is building competition with the likes of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon when it comes to performance. We are sure to expect smartphones with these chipsets in the future. So what are your thoughts of these chips?
