How To Create A 360-degree Photo And Post It On Facebook

As you have seen in some post in your timeline, you would have come across an interactive photo. I myself have just noticed it when I received my iPhone because my older android device lacks the feature. The different parts of the photo can be seen by holding your phone and moving it around, while in some devices you panned the image it using your finger or mouse - these images are 360-degree photos

So how do I create one?

Base on my experience and research you don't really need a special camera or even a 360-degree photo app in order to upload your own interactive picture. You can use your own camera as long as your camera app supports Panorama photography. But if you really want to try and recreate a full 360-degree camera movement, there are cameras that Facebook officially supports, like Ricoh Theta S, Giroptic 360 Cam, Samsung Gear 360, LG 360 Cam, and etc. These cameras are some of the top-of-the-line that can capture your entire surroundings in a single shot but are pricier to own.

So why not start with your phone? It is still the better choice IMO.

Phones are getting smarter and are loaded with features that can work with this Facebook feature. Facebook also said, anything newer than an iPad Mini 2 or either iPad Air, iPad Pro and iPhone 4s models will work. Although this list doesn't include Android devices chances are smartphones like newer Samsung Galaxy devices and Google Nexus will be able to use this feature. Owners of a non-Samsung Android device can use the Google Camera app to capture 360-degree photos.

Not all photo will work with Facebook's 360-degree viewer, as I mentioned you need to use the camera app on your device to take a panorama photo and your ready to go. That simple! Or you can go and use the Google Street View (Android | iOS) app to take a true 360-degree photo sphere and upload it.

Note: When taking a panorama to upload: Facebook states this feature will only work with photos that are 100 degrees or bigger and there's no easy way to see just how big a photo is, in terms of degrees at least, so if you don't want to capture the full landscape, you'll need to do some trial and error to get a better idea of the correct size.

Uploading

Uploading a panorama photo to Facebook is done using the same method to upload all your other photos: Open Facebook > tap Photo, select a picture > post.

Note: You can't upload more than one panorama photo at a time.

Isn't it fun and amazing to see a VR like photo on your device? So why not try creating your own 360-degree photo and leave comments or links below for the results?
